Indian Matchmaking Season 2 Release Date Announced: Will Feature Familiar Faces

The reality television series Indian Matchmaking season 2 release date for OTT was unveiled recently. Season 2 of the show will again follow matchmaker Sima Taparia as she helps out single desi millennials around the world find a partner.

Indian Matchmaking season 1 showed the matchmaker and host Sima Taparia using her time-tested techniques on eight people residing in the United States and India. The second season of the television series will be following a similar formula. Reportedly, the new season will feature “some familiar faces” along with new singles across the globe.

In the new season, the wish lists of singles looking for a partner included expectations such as man buns, a love for taco bell, and an “ovo-lacto-semi-vegetarian diet”.

Indian Matchmaking was renewed for a third season before the premiere of the second season. Taparia said, “I was totally surprised by the response to the first season of Indian Matchmaking.” She added that she was “overwhelmed” by the love she had gotten and the appreciation for “Indian culture and values”.

Indian Matchmaking is produced and directed by Smriti Mundhra, a filmmaker that also produced the documentary A Suitable Girl, a documentary featuring Taparia and her daughter.

The show that works on reality TV template premiered on July 16, 2020, on Netflix and was renewed for a second season in August 2021. In March 2022, the series was renewed for a third season.

Producer and director Mundhra spoke about how she had originally pitched Indian Matchmaking in 2009 or 2010 and was told that the show might work if it centred on a white person and followed the journey through their lens. However, Mundhra stuck to her concept, and eventually she was able to execute it as she wanted.

Indian Matchmaking 2 Release Date

Indian Matchmaking season 2 will release on August 10, 2022. Just like the first season, the second one too will unfold over eight episodes and follow the template set previously.

Sharing images from the upcoming second season, the OTT gaint wrote in the caption, " Gets down on one knee and asks if there are plans for season 2 of Indian Matchmaking. The Answer Is Yes. Seema aunty and Indian Matchmaking will return for a second season."
