How Farhan Akhtar & Shibani Dandekar Broke The Wedding News To Their Family

It's raining weddings in Bollywood with numerous celebrity couples tying or planning to tie the knot this year. Next in line are Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar, who are all set to get married on February 21. Days ahead of the wedding, Akhtar's mother Honey Irani revealed how the couple chose to tell the family about the wedding.

Akhtar and Dandekar have been in a relationship for nearly four years. It started with a post on social media, in which Dandekar could be seen walking hand-in-hand with a man whose face wasn't visible. Soon, Akhtar shared the same post from his account with a heart emoji, making the relationship official.

Honey Irani, Akhtar's mother and Javed Akhtar's former wife, revealed how the two disclosed their intentions to marry. Irani, who has written the film Lamhe, Kya Kehna and Kaho Naa...Pyaar Hai said that the couple invited them for dinner some time back and then shared the news with them.

Honey Irani On Farhan Akhtar Wedding

Expressing joy at the wedding of her son and Dandekar, she told the ETimes, "The most important thing is that they are both very happy I just hope they have a wonderful life; it's really nice to see they are tying the know now. They were very serious about each other. But frankly, today, couples take some time before making the decision on marriage. We respect that. We are not the interfering types. Shibani and Farhan are both mature. We would have approved of whatever they wanted."

Talking about Shibani Dandekar, she said that she is "lovely, pleasant and gorgeous." She hopes that the two make and keep each other happy.

The couple first met on the sets of reality television show I Can Do That and made their first public appearance together as a couple in 2018 at Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh's wedding reception.
