Shehbaz Sharif is the younger brother of Nawaz Sharif, the former three-time Prime Minister of Pakistan. The Honey Bridge is located in Lahore and was named after Aaliya Honey by Lahoris. It was constructed during Shahbaz Sharif's tenure as Punjab Chief Minister. According to reports, the cavalry bridge was erected so that he could easily travel to his wife's home, while some claim that it was built so that his second wife would not arrive home late from work.

Shahbaz Sharif waited a few years after two failed marriages before secretly marrying socialite and novelist Tehmeena Durrani in 2003. Durrani is a Pakistani author, activist, socialite, and artist. According to reports, the two secretly married following an eight-year love affair. Nobody, even government officials and the Sharif family, was aware of their upcoming wedding.
