Popular High School Drama Heartbreak High's Reboot Releasing On This Date

Popular 1994 drama series Heartbreak High is getting a reboot. Like its predecessor, this reboot will also focus on lives of the students at Hartley High. The drama series stars Ayesha Madon, James Majoos, Chloe Hayden in important roles and will be releasing on OTT soon.

The original Australian high school drama was a massive hit and is still considered as one of the classics. The show starred Alex Dimitriades, Sarah Lambert, Katherine Halliday, Salvatore Coco, Emma Roche and others in important roles. The reboot of this iconic series was announced back in 2o20, created by Hannah Carroll Chapman. Two years later, the reboot series titled Heartbreak High is all ready to hit the OTT screens in 2022. Heartbreak High 2022 Plot

The show focuses on the lives of a bunch of high school students studying at Hartley High in Sydney. It all starts when one of the students named Amerie is named as a pariah or outcast. She is brash and a working-class girl and becoming a pariah makes it worse for her as she and her best friend Harper get distant. However, she becomes friends with Darren and Quinni, two outsiders. While Darren is non-binary and queer, Quinni suffers from autism. Together with them, Amerie tries to improve her reputation as she experiences love, sexuality and heartbreak in the process.

The story also features a mural that exposes the student's secret hook ups which is authored by none other than Amerie herself. The official synopsis of the show reads, "An incendiary mural exposes everyone's secret hook-ups at Hartley High. Its author, Amerie, has to grapple with the messy fallouts as a total outcast."

Heartbreak High 1994 put forward many taboo topics of that time as it talked about things like teen pregnancy, sexuality and drug use and broke stereotypes in the Australian TV industry. The reboot of the show expects to take this legacy forward and talk about struggles of LGBTQ+ community and what their high school life looks like with many non-binary and queer characters.

Heartbreak High Cast And Characters

The show stars Ayesha Madon as Amerie, James Majoos as Darren, Chloe Hayden as Quinni and Asher Yasbincek as Harper. Other cast and characters include Josh Heuston in the role of bisexual musician Dusty who gets involved with Harper, Gemma Chua-Tran as a Chinese-Australian girl names Sasha who is lesbian and non-binary, Rachel House as the school's woke principal Woodsy and Sherry-Lee Watson as an Indigenous student named Missy who gets involved with Sasha. The series also stars Thomas Weatherall, Will McDonald, Chika Ikogwe, Bryn Chapman-Parish and Brodie Townsend.

Heartbreak High Trailer

The trailer of the show has not released yet but the video of the release date announcement served as a teaser for the show. It gave a glimpse of the main characters of the show and their high school life and transition. From bold demonstrations to steamy hook-ups, the teaser was enough to give an idea of what the show has on board for the audience.

Heartbreak High 2022 Release Date

The show is an 8 episodes long series and releases exclusively on Netflix on September 14, 2022. The release date for official trailer is not announced yet.
