5 Times When Influential People Got Away With Assault Cases

A Noida woman was recently seen assaulting a security guard and incidents like these are on the rise. People with higher social status are being caught harassing and assaulting people around them and the worst part is most of them are getting away with minimum punishment.

There are cases of assault being reported almost everyday but the fact that is scaring people is the offenders getting away with it, using power. The elite class has always enjoyed the benefit of the doubt in such situations and with connections, they have had it easy to solve the problems created by themselves. Here is a list of such incidents that came to the news but updates on their legal actions never reached the media.

5 incidents of getting away with assault cases

1. A woman who resides in Anjara Homes Society in Noida Sector-121 was manhandling a security guard by holding his collar and throwing away his cap and was apparently drunk too. The incident was caught on camera, following which the reports suggest that the police took action by issuing a challan against them. “Two of the accused have been taken into custody in a preventive action under CrPC section 151. They were produced before a local magistrate and challans issued against them under Indian Penal Code sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (intentional insult),” officials were quoted in a report. No further updates have been reported yet.
2. In a very similar incident, Bhavya Rai, a lawyer based in Noida was seen in another viral video hurling and assaulting a security guard. Rai was arrested but soon got bail even after the proof in the video. The lawyer representing Rai said that her clear criminal history was considered in the court and it was submitted in the court that she was falsely accused in the case.
3. Another woman living in Noida who was later identified as a professor was accused of slapping a security guard. The incident was caught in CCTV footage and the woman was still granted bail later.
4. Former BJP leader Seema Patra was accused of a horrific abuse incident where she was reportedly holding a house help hostage for years and constantly tortured. The incident came out after her son and his friend called the police and rescued the tortured woman. Patra was booked under the Indian Penal Code Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 325 (punishment for voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 346 (wrongful confinement), 374 (unlawful compulsory labour) and sections of the Scheduled Castes Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989. Even though she was soon arrested but there have been no updates on the case after that.
5. Another BJP leader Shrikant Tyagi made it to the news for assaulting and abusing a woman over the placement of a palm tree that he planted in a residential area. The video of him misbehaving with the woman and her husband went viral and post that Tyagi had been absconding till the police arrested him. But soon after on September 22, 2022, Tyagi was granted bail by a local court.
