A list of foods to avoid for weight loss shared by a user on Reddit is gaining a lot of attention on social media because of its ridiculous contents. The list is extremely funny to miss and crosses out a lot of important things that do not contribute to weight gain.
Internet is the most popular destination for people when looking for advice and tips. You will find a tutorial on every little thing and an opinion on every little matter. One thing that many people struggle with is weight loss and a lot of us search the internet's nooks and corners for tips and trends on losing those extra pounds. However, many of these suggestions online can be very misleading and hence, it is always advised to talk to a professional instead of relying on free ka gyaan. But what if you actually talk to a professional who gives you an even ridiculous response than you could get online. That's exactly what happened with this Reddit user.
List Of Foods To Avoid For Weight Loss
The user shared a picture of a list titled 'Diet To Be Followed' that their doctor prescribed them. Out of the 19 items listed, 14 were crossed out which included things like cucumber, lettuce, brinjal etc. The list was captioned, "doctor gave a list of things not to eat to lose weight/maintain good health. it gets worse as the list progresses."
Some of the things crossed out on the list were stale rice and potatoes, cold drinks/juices/alcohol, beef/steak/pork and peanut butter/ chocolate products. While it made some sense that a doctor would prohibit a person from eating these foods if they intended to lose weight, many were left rubbing their eyes in disbelief to also find yougurt/feta cheese, elaichi/nuts/chevro and raw green chillies on the list. What was exactly going on?

The funny list caught the attention of many users who left their reactions in the comment section. A Reddit user asked the question that everyone was baffled about as they wrote, "No lettuce or cucumbers?" Another was baffled as sugar wasn't crossed on the list which is the first thing that people quit for weight loss. They wrote, "So sugar is all good? Wtf?" The only recipe that can be made from the allowed food items, as written by a Reddit user, was this, "So cold water with a splash of rock salt cooked with less oil?"
A user provided a possible explanation for so many prohibited food items as they wrote, "This list looks like either Ayurvedic diet and/or IBS/Crohn’s diet recommendations. Edit: the fact that this list contains a lot of things that are unscientific nonsense (no microwaved food, only Himalayan rock salt) and a lot of traditional Hindi names (atchaar, bringals, elachi) leads me to believe this is Ayurvedic dietary advice. That’s why I said and/or."
Well, as no context was provided by the user who shared the list, it cannot be said what purpose the list served. However, it did serve as a good dose of laughter for all those who came across it.
