It was interesting to watch Alia Bhatt play the role of Ananya Swaminathan, a South Indian girl who falls in love with Krish, a Punjabi boy. What made her character relatable and endearing was the fact that she was a modern woman who left no stone unturned to be with the man she loves. At the same time, she was a grounded woman who believed in staying true to her roots.

Bhatt played the role of a sexual assault survivor character in the film. Her role portrayed a woman who learns to live life her own way.

It is a spy thriller film directed by Meghna Gulzar that released in India in 2018. She essayed the character of Sehmat Khan, a 20-year-old Pakistani spy, who married into a powerful Pakistani family in order to spy for India. Khan was trained by RAW (Research and Analysis Wing) officers before being sent to Pakistan. She was taught codes and how to shoot. She aced her job due to her quick learning ability. She impressed the nation with an impressive portrayal of her personality.
