Fatima Sana Shaikh to lead Aruvi remake: Actor Fatima Sana Shaikh will lead the Hindi remake of hit 2017 Tamil film Aruvi. The film is expected to go on the floors in mid-2021. Recently when Netflix unveiled its line up for 2021, it was revealed that Shaikh will be seen in Karan Johar produced anthology Ajeeb Dastaans.
"I am thrilled to do the Aruvi remake, and am looking forward to diving deep into the character. I am glad that have come together with E Nivas to make this content," Shaikh said on being cast in the remake.
While the original Tamil film was directed by Arun Prabhu Purushothaman and featured actor Aditi Balan in the lead, the Hindi remake of Aruvi will be directed by Eeshwar Nivas who has previously directed films like Shool and Total Siyapaa.
Fatima Sana Shaikh, who worked as a child actor in films like Chachi 420 and One 2 Ka 4, is best know for portraying the role of wrestler Geeta Phogat in the hit 2016 film Dangal, starring Amir Khan. In 2020, she was seen in films Ludo and Suraj Pe Mangal Bhari.
In November last year, Shaikh said that she had no plans of getting married anytime soon. "Mere best friend ki shaadi ho rahi hai, utna hi mera view hai about weddings, to attend them. I have no intention of getting married nor do I have no intention of you seeing me walking down the aisle with someone anytime soon," she said in an interview. Read more about it here.
