Shibani Dandekar and Farhan Akhtar's first date was "awkward", the actor has revealed in a recent interview. First dates aren't usually as romantic and dreamy as they are in Bollywood movies. It can be awkward at times, but it can leave an indelible mark on one's heart and memories. Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar, the Bollywood couple, have a similar story to share.
Farhan Akhtar, the actor-filmmaker, recently recalled how his first date was all about dealing with awkward silences because his then-girlfriend Shibani Dandekar had run out of things to talk about. He began by stating that a great date for him is one in which the other person does all of the talking. He went on to state that Dandekar would vouch for the same about their first date. He said, “It was very awkward. Shibani tells people how she could hear the sound of the cutlery cutting on the plate. It was so quiet. I wasn’t talking at all and she had run out of all topics in her head. I didn’t say anything.”

The couple got married on February 19 in a modest ceremony attended by Farah Khan, Rhea Chakraborty, Hrithik Roshan, Saqib Saleem, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, and Farhan's sister, filmmaker Zoya Akhtar. Following that, the couple and their guests shared photos of the wedding ceremony on social media, offering admirers a glimpse into the event.
On February 21, they registered their marriage with the court and handed out sweets to photographers outside Shibani's home in Bandra, Mumbai.
Shibani Dandekar and Farhan Akhtar are said to have met on a reality show where he was a judge and she was a contestant in 2015. Following that, rumours of their dating began to circulate till they were verified in 2018, when the couple made their relationship public by attending Ranveer' Singh and Deepika Padukone's wedding reception. Reportedly, the couple had formed a deep bond with each other and their families during their dating era. The individuals were also quite often visible in family photographs.
Dandekar, an actor and television host, had a permanent tattoo on her neck to commemorate her 41st birthday(2021), when they were dating and lived together during the pandemic. She used social media to show off her tattoo, which she got for her birthday.
Akhtar was formerly married to Adhuna Bhabani, with whom he has two children, Akira and Shakya. After 16 years of marriage, they decided to call it quits and filed for divorce in 2016.
