Bridgerton Season 2 was recently released, giving much-needed diversity to the tale and allowing the cast, Simone Ashley, Charithra Chandran, and Shelley Conn, to shine through their roles. Fans adored Charithra Chandran as Edwina Sharma, who has a complex sister relationship with her older sister, Kate Sharma, as well as a love triangle with Anthony Bridgerton.
Bridgerton is an American period drama series written by Chris Van Dusen and produced by Shonda Rhimes for streaming television. The focus turns to Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) in the second season, since the first season centred on Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and Simon Basset, Duke of Hastings (Rege-Jean Page). In the new season, Anthony is shown looking for a suitable wife. When Kate (Simone Ashley) and her younger sister Edwina (Charithra Chandran) arrive, things get a little confusing.
Along with Anthony Bridgerton, the Sharma family has been pivotal in the second season of the series set in Regency-era Britain. The character arcs of the Sharma sisters are depicted in the show just as they are in Julia Quinn's books. Edwina is a hopeless romantic, somewhat soft-spoken but equally determined as her sister. Kate is educated and opinionated, as well as protective of her sister.
While season two was clearly the Kate and Anthony show, viewers immediately got fond of the younger Sharma sister, Edwina, and as the season came to a close, fans are anticipating seeing Edwina return in the next season. While neither Shonda Rhimes nor the show's other creators have confirmed her return, the show has given some hopeful signals. Here's a look at them:

Bridgerton with Edwina Sharma Season 3:
- Following the events of Edwina and Anthony's wedding day, Lady Danbury (Adjoa Andoh) offers to sponsor Edwina and Lady Mary(Shelley Conn) for another season in order for Edwina to have a second chance at love. Remember that Lady Danbury is a single mother with no children, is well-known in high society, and is best friends with the queen. If that remark had no merit, it seems odd that the show's creator and writers would just throw it in there.
- Lady Whistledown (Julie Andrews) overlooked the fact that the Queen's nephew is on the lookout for a princess! At the season's last gala, Her Majesty suggests to Edwina that she would want to introduce her to her nephew, who is a prince and available. This could signal a new love relationship for Edwina, or it could be a portent of a variety of things (could her nephew be the diamond next season?).
- The show's treatment of Anthony and Kate's romantic story, as well as the reveal of Lady Whistledown's true identity, are great examples of how it deviates from its source of inspiration. There's even talk that the show's Bridgerton sibling order could be reversed, Shonda Rhimes(producer) has stated that this will not remain the case for the upcoming seasons, and that she may shake things up.
- Edwina's journey is far from over, thanks to Queen Charlotte's (Golda Rosheuvel) role as matchmaker and Lady Danbury's generous funding. The Ton's jewel is still Edwina, which makes for an interesting interim between wooing seasons. Is Edwina's diamond status going to be carried over? Will she be courted in the off-season as well? Not to mention the fact that there are still two older Bridgertons available.
