Deepika Padukone, Ananya Panday's Gehraiyaan Comes Directly To OTT On This Date

Gehraiyaan release date: On December 20, Deepika Padukone shared a teaser of her upcoming film which has been directed by Shakun Batra, also revealing its name and release details. The film also features Siddhant Chaturvedi, Ananya Panday and Dhairya Karwa.

Titled Gehraiyaan, this much-awaited project produced by Karan Johar will have a direct-OTT release. Padukone had shared regular updates on the film while shooting it during the pandemic, its title and release details had been under wraps till today.

Gehraiyaan's director Shakun Batra is known for helming movies like Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and Kapoor & Sons. He is also directing a documentary titled Searching for Sheela.

On Sunday, Padukone had taken to Instagram to reveal that she will be sharing an announcement about the film on Monday. "Yes…It has been a bit of a wait.But as the saying goes…Sometimes, the longer you wait for something, the more you appreciate it when it finally arrives! Hopefully, the same holds true here," she wrote in her post.

Further writing about the film, Padukone added that she took the opportunity to be a part of something that she believed was truly magical. "And with love in my heart and utmost gratitude, I cannot wait to share our labour of love with all of you…"

In her Monday post, Padukone, who is also gearing up for the release of her film 83 on Christmas, which she has produced as well, simply called Gehraiyaan a "piece of my heart."

Johar shared the announcement of Gehraiyaan on Instagram, writing, "It's time to dive deep and find out what's beneath just the surface."

Apart from Gehraiyaan and 83, Padukone will also be seen in a science fiction film titled Project K. This will mark Padukone's debut in Telugu films and she will be starring alongside actor Prabhas in the project. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film will also feature Amitabh Bachchan in a key role.

Gehraiyaan release date

Gehraiyaan will have a direct-OTT release on Amazon Prime Video on January 25. This film was reportedly scheduled for a release in February this year, however, it got pushed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
