What Is 'Chup : Revenge Of The Artist' About?

R Balki's psychological thriller Chup: Revenge Of The Artist starring Sunny Deol and Dulquer Salmaan will soon be released in theatres around the country. The movie revolves around the investigation of recent murders of movie critics in the town that indicate towards a psychopathic serial killer out on a killing spree.

Chup is one of the much anticipated psychological thrillers released in September 2022. The movie is directed by Paa and Pad Man fame filmmaker R Balki who has also co-written the plot of the film. Produced by Jayantilal Gada, Gauri Shinde, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala and Anil Naidu, the movie stars Dulquer Salmaan, Sunny Deol, Shreya Dhanwanthary and Pooja Bhatt in important roles. The movie revolves around a serial killer on his killing spree whose targets are film critics. Just like the movie critics rate and give stars to movies, the killer also rates them by carving stars on their foreheads.

Chup Plot

The ">trailer introduces us to a police officer Arvind Mathur (Sunny Deol) and his team in desperate search of the serial killer who is targeting movie critics. The murders he commits are spine-chilling and horrendous. Dulquer Salmaan stars as a lonely florist Danny and the movie features his love angle with Shreya Dhanwanthary's Nila.

A scene of the movie refers to Guru Dutt's epic romantic drama Kaagaz Ke Phool released in 1959. The scene talks about how Guru Dutt's one of the most personal and best movies was reviewed negatively by critics which depressed him and he never made a film after that. Pooja Bhatt can be seen saying that critics are killers which foreshadows the purpose of the serial critic killer. The trailer is Guru Dutt's songs like Jaane Kya Tune Kahi in the background which add to the thrilling vibes of the trailer.

Chup Release Date

The movie is all set to release in theatres on September 23, 2022. The day will be celebrated as National Cinema Day and the advance ticket bookings for the movie were exceptional. The first few reviews of the film came out on September 22 which called the movie an engaging story with a phenomenal cast. A Twitter review read, "#Chup is a POWERFUL Edge of Seat Thriller.
