World Diabetes Day is the primary global awareness campaign focusing on diabetes and issues related to it. Diabetes is non-communicable, but once detected it stays forever, especially in the case of Type-1 diabetes. In Type-1, the body is unable to produce insulin naturally. Hence, regular insulin injections are needed to regulate it. Type-2 still can be preventable by managing a proper lifestyle. However, in both cases, diabetes can be life-taking too if it is not treated.

Few celebrities have been suffering from diabetes, balancing their work-life, and at the same time coping with the critical disease.

Here is a list of celebrities coping with diabetes- 

Samantha Ruth Prabhu

The Family Man 2 actor in 2013 revealed that she has been diagnosed with diabetes. Recently, she also revealed getting diagnosed with the autoimmune condition Myositis. Prabhu irrespective of her medical conditions proves to be one of the fittest actors in town. 

Salma Hayek 

Hayek was diagnosed with diabetes for the first time during pregnancy, it is also called gestational diabetes. Hayek had gestational diabetes while pregnant with her daughter, Valentina, in 2007.

Hayek said, " got gestational diabetes, which I didn't realize at first. It occurs in women who have high blood sugar levels during pregnancy. I didn't know whether I was feeling bad because I was pregnant or something was seriously wrong. I was nauseated for nine months, which can be one of the symptoms." as per a report

Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor, an actor and style icon was also only 17 when she was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes. Kapoor's diabetes is said to be hereditary. Her condition caused her pancreas to produce little to no insulin. Sonam Kapoor has to regularly take insulin injections to neutralize the insulin balance. She has been a powerful voice in normalizing lives affected by the disease.

Halle Berry

Berry got the news of diabetes when she was 19 years old and has since cut out sugars and bread from her diet. In the report, Berry speaking positively about her illness said, "Diabetes turned out to be a gift. It gave me strength and toughness because I had to face reality, no matter how uncomfortable or painful it was."

Fawad Khan

Fawad Khan, a Pakistani actor got diabetes at the age of 17. Fawad Khan was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes. Khoobsurat actor’s ailment is said to be developed due to an Autoimmune disorder.

Nick Jonas

In 2005, Nick Jonas discovered he had type 1 diabetes. Despite the difficulties of managing his condition alongside a hectic tour calendar, Jonas remains optimistic. He co-founded Beyond Type 1, a nonprofit committed to educating and supporting individuals with diabetes. Moreover, in October 2020, he played a significant role in introducing GetInsulin.org, a digital platform aiming to enhance insulin accessibility for those affected by diabetes.
