American historical-romantic drama Bridgerton which first aired in 2020 created a fan base worldwide. The show which streams on Netflix is all set to roll out a prequel series on the streaming platform this year.
Bridgerton Prequel Queen Charlotte
The makers revealed the first look of a popular character, Lady Agatha Danbury, to be played by actor Adjoa Andoh. The upcoming limited series is written by Shonda Rhimes, famously known for creating Grey's Anatomy. Titled Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, the show is a prequel spin-off of the Netflix series Bridgerton and it will bring to light the life of young Queen Charlotte.
The series will surface the challenges Queen Charlotte faced to find her path to power and popularity and how Agatha was instrumental in helping her do that. The show will show the link between the two characters and their shared understanding of marriage, class divide and prominence. Watching how Agatha’s character finds her strength and voice while guiding the Queen to find hers will be interesting.
Characters
The show will also establish ground around Queen Charlotte and King George's marriage, alongside laying the groundwork for the other characters taking shape in the royal inheritance. It's believed that Queen Charlotte lived from 1744 to 1818 and married the King as a teenager.
Golda Rosheuvel will reprise her role as Queen Charlotte, whereas Ruth Gemmell will play Lady Violet Bridgerton. India Amarteifio will star as the young Queen Charlotte while Corey Mylchreest will play young King George. Michelle Fairley will play Princess Augusta. Adjoa Andoh and Cyril Nri will play Lady and Lord Danbury respectively.
While there's no premiere date yet for the much-anticipated show, the table reads for the show are currently underway as the makers have been sharing sneak peeks from behind the scenes to keep the show's fans updated.
