Rajkummar Rao, Bhumi Pednekar and Chum Darang starrer Badhaai Do is coming to OTT this week. The film had a theatrical release on February 11 and as expected it is coming to digital medium a month later.
Directed by Harshvardhan Kulkarni, the movie is a sequel Badhaai Ho, featuring Neena Gupta, Sanya Malhotra, Gajraj Rao and Ayushmann Khurrana in lead roles. Badhaai Ho revolves around a middle-aged couple who discover that they are pregnant and how their family and relatives react to the news.
All about Badhaai Do
Delivering a social message like its predecessor, Badhaai Do is about two gay people who get married in order to escape their families' pressure and repeated taunting. A marriage of convenience between two gay people is called a Lavendar marriage. The term originated in the West, where actors from the LGBTQ+ community would conceal their sexual identity from the public eyes by posing as heterosexual couples in the pre-World War II era.

This rom-com revolves around the lives of Suman Singh (Pednekar), who is a physical education teacher and Shardul (Rao), who is a police officer. Both individuals are getting pressurised by their respective family members to settle down, in terms of marriage.
Thus, they decide to tie the knot with each other in order to hide their sexual orientation from their families and continue to live their lives on their terms. They live together as flatmates and date other people. The plot of the film revolves around how they get their ultimate goals and the hardships that they face.
The cast also includes Seema Pahwa, Sheena Chaddha, Nitesh Panday, amongst others. The film received poles apart views by the critics. While people applauded their effort to bring a topic like this as mainstream cinema, the film did not fare well at the box office. It managed to earn Rs 28 crores, while it was ">made on a budget of Rs 35 crores.
