Who Is Avanti Nagrath? First Indian Model To Open Versace Show At Milan Fashion Week

Avanti Nagrath, an Indian-origin model, made her Milan Fashion Week debut by opening Versace's show, making her the first Indian model to do so. Other models who walked at the same event were Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, and Emily Ratajkowski.

Avanti Nagrath announced the news on Instagram with the caption, “Words can’t describe this feeling. Opening for Versace @versace, on my debut at Milan FW. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this opportunity. I’m truly grateful.”

Who Is Avanti Nagrath?

Avanti Nagrath is a professional fashion model from Mumbai. According to reports, she graduated from Modern School Barakhamba in New Delhi in 2020. She was also named one of India's Top Models in 2020 and one of India's Top 50 Models in 2020 in the year 2020. She's walked for a number of Indian fashion brands.

She caught everyone's attention during the FDCI-organised Fashion Week in Delhi in 2019. The 21-year-old model has become the first Indian model to be chosen to start the Versace show at Milan Fashion Week. She is currently employed by a Mumbai-based demonstrating firm.

For those who are unaware, Milan Fashion Week began in 1958 and is held every year in Milan, Italy. The event is one of the "Big Four" fashion weeks around the world, which also include Paris Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, and New York Fashion Week. New York is the first stop on the itinerary, followed by London, Milan, and finally Paris. Milan Fashion Week's autumn/winter event takes place in February/March each year, while the spring/summer event takes place in September/October.
