Rupali Ganguly and Gaurav Khanna starrer Anupamaa—a daily soap—has been raking the highest place in the TRP charts since it first started airing a year ago. The show is about Anupamaa (Ganguly) who decides to live on her own terms after she was let down by the family, she left her aspirations for. The ongoing track shows Anupamaa sharing a romantic relationship with Anuj Kapadia (Gaurav Khanna) who was once her batchmate in college.
In the latest string of events, Ganguly’s Anupamaa during her dance performance at a contest affirms that she will marry Anuj who had expressed his desire to be wedded to her in an inebriated state during Holi festivities.
Her ex-husband’s mother, Baa, however, forbade her from seeing Anuj. She said that it was unbecoming of a soon-to-be grandmother to think of marrying someone and that society would never accept the relationship after Anuj’s confession. The incident had put her in a dilemma.

However, the latest promo shows Anupamaa proposing to Anuj on stage during her performance and announcing that she will be marrying him. This episode was set on Valentine's Day.

While the news was a rude shock for her ex-husband and his mother, her husband’s father, her son and the fans are all ecstatic with this announcement.

But she goes ahead and decides to add a surprise element to her performance making it a surprise for her man announce like no other and it was surprise for him,” a Twitter user wrote. While another user commented, “SO BEAUTIFUL, I’M CRYING (emojis).”
The show backed by Rajan Shahi airs on Star Plus and also stars Madalsa Sharma, Sudhanshu Pandey, Nidhi Shah, Paras Kalnawat, Alpana Buch, and Arvind Vaidya among others.
According to reports, the serial is also set to get a prequel gauging its popularity among the viewers. It is being speculated that the serial will get a prequel of 11 episodes on the OTT platform Hotstar which will revolve around Anupamaa and her ex-husband’s relationship after a decade of being married. However, there has been no official comment about the prequel from the production house or the OTT platform.
