Amin Hajee On Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao's Divorce:'Glad They're Keeping Their Promise'

Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao divorce: Director and actor, Amin Hajee has spoken about the divorce of his friends, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao. The couple announced the news of their separation on Saturday with an official statement.

“In these 15 beautiful years together we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy, and laughter, and our relationship has only grown in trust, respect and love. Now we would like to begin a new chapter in our lives - no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other,” their statement read.

Hajee, who worked with Aamir Khan and his wife Kiran Rao in Lagaan and was also the best man at their wedding. According to him, when the duo told him and his wife, Charlotte about their decision, they were the ones who needed to be comforted.

Amin's statement

In an interview, an emotional Amin said, "The two of us did speak to them but it was more of a conclusion from their side and we needed to absorb that. So finally Charlotte and I spoke to each other that this is something we needed to come to terms with."

He added that Rao and Khan were still friends, currently working together in the movie, Kargil. Their son Azad, was also giving them company.

The couple also sent a picture of them with their son, Azad to Hajee from the sets of Kargil. The latter said that he was happy that they were keeping their promise.

Hajee and Khan had gotten married six months apart from each other. The four of them have celebrated their wedding anniversaries together since then. Amin concluded by saying that he would miss commemorating wedding anniversaries together.
