Meera Chopra Vaccine Controversy: All You Need To Know
- Actor Meera Chopra recently posted a picture of her first COVID-19 vaccine jab on Instagram. A banner in the background showed that the vaccination center was the Parking Plaza COVID Vaccination center in Thane.
- Soon after Chopra posted the picture, the BJP claimed that the actor got vaccinated even though it was not her turn.
- The BJP added that Chopra was given a photo ID that identified her as a supervisor of a private firm which made her able to get the vaccine under the priority “frontline worker” category.
- Additionally, the 37-year-old actor also falls into the category of the 18-44 years for which vaccination is currently stopped in Maharashtra.
- After the allegations surfaced online, Chopra issued a statement on Twitter denying all of them. “The ID card which has been flouting on social media is not mine,” the actor wrote. She also said that she did not make a fake ID as she was just asked to send in her Aadhar card for the registration.
- The actor has also tweeted that her getting vaccinated has nothing to do with BJP's politics. "Don't try to make me a scapegoat for your animosity to the ruling party here" she tweeted.
- It is also reported that officials are currently looking into the vaccine controversy case. Sandeep Malavi, the spokesperson for TMC said, “Thane Municipal Commission Vipin Sharma has ordered an inquiry under the Deputy Municipal Commissioner to find out if this woman actor got vaccinated out of turn”.
- The TMC spokesperson also added that the report regarding the controversy will be submitted in three days. Chopra has deleted the picture she posted of her getting vaccinated since the allegation.
