Social media has not just opened the doors for fans to connect directly with celebrities but also troll and criticise them. Public figures are often accustomed to being on the receiving end of criticism. But how much hatred and trolling can a person handle?

From digging up old interviews, videos, and controversies, spreading rumours, critiquing the choices celebrities make in their personal lives, shaming them for their appearance, demanding boycotts, etc., people do it all in a jiffy without knowing the entire picture.

Most of these trolls comment using fake IDs. Don't they realise they are wrong when they don’t have the audacity to reveal their identity? If they are aware, are we having a sadist outbreak in society? Why don’t they think about how much trolling would affect a person’s emotional health, regardless of their star status?

Actors Trolled For Silly Reasons

While constructive criticism can be welcomed, people often troll celebrities for irrational reasons. Here are some instances where celebrities experience trolling for insane reasons.

Alia Bhatt

Recently, Alia Bhatt was brutally trolled for not practising what she preached. Bhatt often talks about body positivity. However, netizens collaged two photos of Bhatt from the NMACC event and criticised her for posting photoshopped pictures on Instagram. One picture was from a photoshoot, and the other was at the event. Isn’t it obvious that photos taken at a photoshoot undergo a lot of editing before being posted online? It’s a goddamn photo shoot, and the actor would have retouched her makeup before posing. The other photo was taken sometime between the event and her makeup might have faded. Besides, she's a new mom, so show some respect!

Aishwarya Rai

A video surfaced on the internet where Aishwarya Rai was allegedly spotted snapping at her husband Abhishek Bachchan at a Kabbadi match. Why is this even news? Firstly, the video is unclear, and there are only claims being made. Secondly, what is the big deal with a wife snapping at her husband? Don’t couples ever fight? Aishwarya Rai has also been trolled recently for her daughter Aaradhya’s hairstyle, and dress, and for always holding onto her hand. She’s just a child, and her mother is being protective because people have no respect for boundaries. Aishwarya Rai is probably concerned about her daughter being mobbed. So, can we just leave them alone?

Nayanthara

South actor Nayanthara recently visited the Kumbakonam temple with her husband, director Vignesh Shivan. The couple was continuously photographed and videographed by fans. Initially, the lady superstar requested that the fans give her five minutes of peace to pray, but the crowd didn’t seem to listen. At one point, she snapped at a man and threatened to break his phone. A video of this incident went viral on social media, and the actor was called arrogant and ungrateful. Does being famous mean an actor won’t even have a moment of privacy to pray? Why bombard her despite her request to stop and then abuse her when she reacts? Isn’t she also a human being with emotions? There is a serious lack of respect for actors' consent and boundaries, which needs to be addressed.

Rhea Chakraborty

Rhea Chakraborty, who was caught in a controversy surrounding late actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise. Chakraborty, who was Rajput's girlfriend, faced a lot of criticism and was even blamed for his death. Eventually, she was sidelined and is making a comeback to the industry with the upcoming season of MTV Roadies. However, just because she is on the show, many netizens are refusing to watch it and spewing hate comments about her. She has not been convicted of anything by the law, so can we just let the woman pursue her career?

Sushmita Sen

Sushmita Sen was recently spotted shopping with her ex-boyfriend Rohman Shawl and her younger daughter. After a quick interaction with the media, the actor got into the car, following which a plastic water bottle fell off the vehicle. It is unclear in the viral video if someone from the car threw the bottle out or if it fell off accidentally. Yet, people speculated that Sen threw the bottle out and expressed their anger, disappointment, and disgust over her behaviour. Why are netizens so quick to make assumptions, even with unclear claims? Are people simply so envious of celebrities' lives that they come up with reasons to troll them?
