Abhishek shares Jaya Bachchan throwback photo on her birthday: Veteran actor Jaya Bachchan turns 73 today. To mark the occasion, her son Abhishek Bachchan shared a vintage photograph of the actor on Instagram.
“Happy Birthday Ma. Love you.”, he wrote in the captioned is post on Instagram today.
Bachchan's granddaughter Navya Naveli Nanda commented on the photo shared by her uncle, “Stealing this”.
Many other celebrities have also wished Jaya Bachchan on her birthday. Actor Hrithik Roshan wrote, “Happy birthday Jaya aunty”. Actor Lakshmi Manchu also commented, “Happpppppiest birthdays Jaya aunty. Blissings galore'' on the same post. Singer Jagdish Italiys also wished her and said, “Many birthday wishes Jaya aunty..”
The picture shared by Abhishek Bachchan is a black and white photograph that seems to be signed by his mother, using her maiden name, Bhaduri.
Nanda too wished her grandmother with an Instagram post of her own, sharing two throwback photographs of the actor. "Nani, I love you. Happy Birthday," Nanda captioned her post.
Jaya Bachchan began her career as an actor with the 1963 Satyajit Ray film Mahanagar. She made her debut as a heroine in 1973, with the film Guddi, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. In the 70s she starred in several hit films like Zanjeer, Abhimaan, Mili, Sholay and Kora Kagaz.
After taking a break from acting to focus on her family life, she returned to films in 1998 with the film Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa. In 2004, Bachchan was elected as a Rajya Sabha member on a Samajwadi Party ticket. She is currently serving her fourth term as a Member of Parliament.
The actor was recently campaigning for Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress Party in the ongoing West Bengal state assembly elections. During a recent campaign rally, Bachchan went on to praise Banerjee saying that she had the utmost love and respect for the politician. "Head broken, leg broken but they have not been able to break her heart, brain, and her determination to move ahead and make Bengal one of the best in the world.
