Will Crime Drama 'Aashram' Get A Fourth Season? Read Here

Popular crime drama series Aashram's third season premiered today, on June 3. Fans who were eagerly waiting for the release of the series are done and dusted with watching it.

Aashram's first two seasons, which premiered in 2020, were released within a few months of each other. The third season took two years to complete. The difference this time is in the name, which has been changed to Ek Badnaam Aashram, which undoubtedly is about a godman's den where evil is perpetrated.

In the third season of the popular series Aashram, the self-proclaimed godman Baba Nirala returns for 10 more episodes. Baba Nirala, played by Bobby Deol, is a godman and a conman who has constructed a political/criminal empire under the cover of a spiritual venture in aashram.

The third season picks up where the last season left off, with one of his pupils, Pammi (Aaditi Pohankar), escaping his hands after being sexually abused by him and vowing vengeance. A plethora of personalities and plot threads involving the godman's hunger for power and women, as well as the changing political fortunes of the state where his aashram is located, play out in the background.

The show's centre is Bobby Deol, who gives a once-in-a-lifetime performance. Fans adored him in the part of Nirala, and critics agreed that he was credible as the smart fraud, bringing out the creepiness the role demanded.

However, the way Aashram treats its women is a major concern. When it comes to depicting its women, even those in positions of authority, the series uses a piercing male gaze. The new addition to the series, Esha Gupta, plays an incredibly renowned publicist and brand strategist. The series chose to introduce her with a sensual dance sequence, effectively reducing a successful, powerful female character to a sexual object who dances for a more powerful male character.

Directed by Prakash Jha, and written by Habib Faisal; the show's been a guilty pleasure among fans since the first season for its realistic approach to the plot, which discusses the brutal reality of society, upper caste and lower caste conflicts, politics, police investigations, narcotics, and so on.

When to expect Aashram Season 4 Release Date

There has been no official statement about the series' fourth season. With the third season gathering traction, people are waiting for the renewal announcement, as the success of this season will be critical in projecting future seasons. If the 4th season is announced or renewed soon, the new season will premiere somewhere in mid-2023 or 2024.
