Britain's Youngest-Ever Medalist In Tokyo, Sky Brown Has Won Yet Another Medal In Paris

At 13, Sky Brown held the feat of being Great Britain's youngest-ever medal-holder at the 2020 Olympics. She won her second Olympic medal at the Paris Games, winning bronze.

Sky Brown, a 16-year-old skateboarder from Great Britain, won a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 on August 6. The passionate athlete competed in the finals despite suffering from a shoulder dislocation after a fall during the preliminary round. Brown scored 93.21, adding another Olympic medal to her collection. The teen had won a bronze at the Tokyo 2020 Games, becoming the youngest Olympic medallist from Great Britain. Speaking to BBC, she said, "I feel like this made my story. I felt the adrenaline and was just hyped up. I didn't even think about it!"

Brown's Journey With Skates

Sky Brown, the youngest professional Stakeboarder in the world was born in July 2008, in Japan. She is also a surfer and an expert dancer -- the winner of the American Television program Dancing with the Stars: Juniors 2018. Sky Brown was introduced to skates and the art of skating at the very young age of 4, accompanied by her father. Her professional journey began at the age of 8, when Brown took part in the Vans Us Open in the year 2016, and there was no looking back.

Brown bagged the second position at the Asian Continental Finals in 2017, and in the year 2018, Brown earned herself the tag of the Youngest Professional Stakeboarder in the globe, this success coincided with the winning of the American Dance Programme which stimulated her stardom era.

Brown is sponsored by the famous sports brand Nike, being the youngest athlete to be sponsored by the brand at any time.

How Brown Got Back Up From A Life-Altering Fall

In 2019, Brown announced her decision to play for Great Britain due to the nature of the Britain Stakeboarding Association. She won several championships until 2020 when a major accident left her injured for more than a year.

While training in California, Brown suffered a terrible fall from a halfpipe ramp which led to several fractures in her skull and hands. But, she remained determined towards her goal, towards her love for skating, and got back on her boards in 2021. 

Brown has conveyed several times that her parents played a major role in her success, she credits them for being determined. She represented Great Britain at the 2020 Summer Olympics, being the youngest one at the age of 13, and won against Margery Hinton.

Brown became the youngest medal winner from Great Britain in the history of the Olympics when she took home the bronze in the women's park skateboarding competition in 2020. Brown also owns a Youtube channel, named 'Sky and Ocean', where she posts her videos of skating and surfing.
