Yana Sizikova, a Russian tennis player was detained during the French Open match due to match-fixing allegations as per reports. The investigation was related to a doubles match between Romanian pair Andreea Mitu and Patricia Mari and Sizikova and American Madison Brengle last year in September.
Yana Sizikova has been arrested by French authorities who allegedly has a hand in fixing the doubles match between Andreea Mitu and Patricia Mari and Sizikova and American Madison Brengle. According to Reuters, that the player had been arrested but the grounds of the arrest remained unclear. Later an official stated that Yana Sizikova was detained on the grounds of match-fixing.
Le Parisien reported that the player was taken into custody after she lost her first round of doubles match of French Open with Ekaterina Alexandrova to Ajla Tomljanovic and Storm Sanders in the Central Service for Races and Games (SCCJ).
It is suspected that thousands of euros had been wagered during the fixing of bets. The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) refused to comment on the matter along with the Russian Tennis Federation.
