Haynes retired after playing more than 150 times for her nation as a top-order batter, who frequently saved the Australian team when things seemed terrible. The 35-year-old retires with two ICC Women's World Cup victories for Australia in 2013 and 2022, as well as two more ICC Women's T20 World Cup victories in 2018 and 2020.

Who Is Rachael Haynes?

  • Haynes, a top-order left-hander for Australia, made her Australia debut against England in an ODI at Lord's in 2009. Few days later, she made her Test debut at Worcester, scoring 98 runs. She scored 3818 runs overall in international matches, 2585 of which came in ODIs and included two centuries for her.
  • Haynes' career can be divided into two periods: from 2013 to 2017, and then from 2017 to the present. After being released from the team after the 2013 Ashes in England, Haynes was called up for a tour of New Zealand almost four years later.
  • From that moment forward, she averaged 45.07 in ODIs and 33.00 in T20Is with a strike rate of 126.15. Australia's win over India in the gold-medal match at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham served as her last international match.
  • In 14 occasions, Haynes led Australia in place of Meg Lanning as captain, most notably in the 2017–18 Ashes when Lanning was sidelined with a shoulder injury.
  • Haynes played a variety of batting positions, including the opener in Tests and ODIs (ending her one-day career at the 2022 World Cup where she was the second-highest run-scorer behind Alyssa Healy) and middle-order safety net in Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is). This role was never more clearly demonstrated than against Sri Lanka in Perth at the 2020 T20 World Cup when Australia's match was on the line after the opening loss to India.
  • Haynes earned 4528 runs at a 43.12 average while playing for Victoria and New South Wales in the WNCL. She also hit nine centuries. Behind Lisa Sthalekar (3414), Lisa Keightly (3414), and Alex Blackwell (4788), she is New South Wales' (NSW's) fourth-highest run scorer overall (3081).
