Meet Sports Anchor Sanjana Ganesan, To Be Wife of Jasprit Bumrah

Sports anchor Sanjana Ganesan and India’s leading fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah tied the knot today on March 15. The couple didn't confirm the news of their wedding until much later, it was being reported that the couple will marry around the 14th or 15th of March, 2021. Fans have already begun congratulating the duo and wishing them the best for the big day. But who is Sanajana Ganesan? Here is a profile on the TV presenter who will soon begin a new chapter in her life.

Career as Sports Anchor and Journalist

Born on May 6, 1991, in Pune, Maharashtra, Sanjana Ganesan is a prominent sports anchor and Sports Journalist. 28-year-old Ganesan hosts major sports shows concerning Cricket, Badminton and Football on sports broadcasting channel Start Sports. As a part of Star Sports, she hosted major sports events like Indian Premier League (IPL), Badminton Premier League and the Indian Super League (ISL).

Snajana Ganesan was the co-host of the post-match show Match Point and Cheeky Singles during World Cup 2019 in England, a one of a kind opportunity for her. She also worked with ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2020.

A KKR fan and IPL host

Sanjana was recently seen in the IPL T20 Auction of 2021 that happened last month. She also hosted the IPL auction of 2018. Moreover, she was also seen as a host and supporter of Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2020. She also teamed up with IPL team Kolkata Night Riders and hosted a show called Knight Club. In the show, she interacted with the fans of KKR, talked about the matches the team played and their players. She is often spotted with players of KKR and the team’s owner and Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan.

A female, non-cricketer sports journalist

Ganesan’s career as a Sports anchor is pathbreaking as she is one of the few non-cricketer female sports presenters who covers and comments on the major matches played. In an interview, she said, “Growing up, I watched sports as a fan. I never played any sport or be athletic as such.” Calling her career as a sports anchor at Star Sports a “happy accident”, Ganesan added, “I actually started picking up sports, understanding it and actually invest in it only once I joined here.”

A common stereotype is that women do not understand sports and for Ganesan, being a female sports presenter was certainly groundbreaking. However, Ganesan has never come across any such discrimination or difference between a male or a female presenter in her career till now. She believes, “I think there is more emphasis on the quality of the work rather than who is doing it or whether you are a female or a male.”

Sanjana Ganesan as a model, software engineer and bright student

Apart from her career as a Sports journalist, Sanjana Ganesan is also a Femina Miss India finalist and winner. She was a participant and finalist of Femina Style Diva 2012 and Femina Miss India Pune 2013. Moreover, she emerged as a winner of Femina Officially Gorgeous 2013. In 2014, she also participated in Splitsvilla Season 7 but later dropped out of it. And just two years later joined Star Sports.

Apart from her career, Sanjana Ganesan has been a meritorious student. She completed her B.Tech from Symbiosis Institute of Technology in 20208 and won a gold medal for her graduation. Before gearing up for a career as a TV personality, she worked as a software engineer at CDK Global from 2013 to 2015. She is the daughter of Ganesh Ramaswamy, who is a management speaker and Dr Sushma Ganesan, an advocate.
