Who Is Shiba Maggon?

Coming from a humble background in Haryana, Shiba Maggon had not imagined that she would pursue sports. Her sister, who played basketball in school, died in a road accident, after which Shiba decided to carry forward her dream and play in her memory since 1989. She has never looked back since.

Shiba went on to represent India in countless international tournaments for about 14 years. Then, she took up coaching to financially support her family. She first coached youth teams before mentoring Under-18 and senior levels. Shiba also completed a course in international coaching enrichment in the USA.

Soon, Shiba's career further flourished as she made history as a referee. To earn the FIBA (International Basketball Federation) certification was no easy feat as she had to pass multiple exams -- theory and practical. Despite the high pressure, Shiba remained determined to succeed.
