Iga Świątek's dominance on the clay courts has once again come to the forefront, as she clinched her third consecutive French Open title with a commanding victory over Italy's Jasmine Paolini in the final. The World No. 1 tennis champion beat Paolini 6-2, 6-1 at Court Philippe Chatrier in just 68 minutes to grab her fourth Roland Garros title. The 23-year-old Polish athlete has now won all five Grand Slam finals she has contested. Her other victory came at the 2022 US Open. Iga Świątek became the third player in the Open Era, after Monica Seles (1990 to ’92) and Justine Henin (2005 to ’07) to win the French Open women’s singles title three years in a row.

Speaking to The Guardian, Świątek said, "Even being here and winning five slams seems pretty surreal. I would have never expected it when I was younger. Getting to 10 here seems like, still, a long shot. I’ll for sure work for it and you can expect that I’ll do my best to become better and better every year.”

Iga Świątek's Run For French Open Glory

In May 2024, Iga Świątek secured her third Rome title by defeating Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets. The athlete showcased her prowess on clay, delivering a masterclass performance that left her opponent trailing. With her consistent streak of victories, Świątek not only asserted her dominance on the clay surface but also etched her name in tennis history.

After Świątek's Roland Garros victory on June 8, she told Reuters. "It was an emotional win because I felt a lot of stress yesterday and today in the morning. And I knew if I was going to just focus on tennis I could kind of fight through it, and at the end, it all went how I wanted. So I just felt really proud of myself." However, securing this victory was no cakewalk.

Świątek also told the outlet about the mental pressure she endured ahead of the championships and after qualifying for the finals. "I'm a perfectionist, so there's always pressure on me. I'm fine handling my own pressure. When outside pressure hits me, it is a little bit worse... When I do anything, I want to do it 100%. I think when you're a perfectionist, you are a perfectionist everywhere. But this is a tricky thing because it helps you to be better but sometimes it can be huge baggage as well,"she admitted.

Iga Świątek held the World No. 1 ranking in 2022, with a massive gap at the top. American tennis star Serena Williams had a 6,591-point lead during the last week of August 2015. Thereafter, in these years, it is the most comprehensive margin between No. 1 and No. 2. Świątek sealed the World No. 1 spot ahead of the season-ending Grand Slam in 2022. She continued her dominant season and set aside Jabeur in straight sets in the final on Saturday, September 10, 2022. She also won the French Open, four WTA 1000 events, one WTA 500 tournament, and reached the semi-final of the Australian Open.
