A women's volleyball match in Nebraska made history recently because of the record breaking crowds that gathered, a never seen before occassion at a women's game before.
The match between the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Omaha Mavericks in Lincoln, Nebraska, had crowds of over 92,000 fans watching the event live from the stalls, breaking the world record for the largest attendance at a women's sporting event, according to TIME.

On Wednesday night's volleyball match at Lincoln's Memorial Stadium in Nebraska, the Nebraska Cornhuskers won their game against the Omaha Mavericks 3-0. In addition to their victory, their game smashed the world record for the largest attendance at a woman's sporting event, after their match drew in more than 92,000 fans, according to NBC.
In a post on social media, the team said, "Husker Nation, you've done it."

In another post on the Husker's official website, the Huskers said that "the attendance of 92,003 set a record for the largest crowd to watch a women's sporting event in the United States."
"The crowd of more than 92,000 also surpassed what is widely regarded as the world-record attendance for any women's sporting event," the post continued.
Previously, the world record for highest attendance at a women's sports match was 91,648 fans at the UEFA Champions League match between Barcelona and Wolfsburg at Camp Nou, Barcelona, in 2022, according to the post. The previous record for highest attendance at a women's sporting event in America was 90,185 people at the FIFA Women's World Cup Final, with USA battling China for the win at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, USA, in 1999.
