Indian women cricketers get vaccine: The members of the India women's cricket team, which is gearing up for the upcoming tournament in England, have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccination on Thursday. The team is currently quarantined in Mumbai. The contingent will also travel to Australia in mid-September for their much-hyped maiden pink ball day-night Test match.
Speaking to ANI, sources said that each member of the contingent will get the second dose in the UK when their turn comes up. This will be their first Test match in over seven years against England. The entire contingent is now done with the first dose of vaccination, the source pointed that there were quite a few members left to get the first dose and that was completed on Thursday. "All the girls have been given Covishield as that will help them get the second dose in England," it said.
The women's team will compete in a one-off Test, three ODIs, and three T20Is against England, starting on June 16. Then both the teams will play in three ODIs beginning June 27 at various locations across the country. They will then face off in three T20Is, beginning July 9. The third T20I between England Women and India Women will be held on July 14 in Chelmsford.
India women’s team cricketers are leaving no stones unturned in their preparation for the upcoming tour as earlier BCCI shared a video on Thursday with the caption: “Shut the noise! We are India,” which showed the women indulging in various exercises in the gym. The 96-second-long video featured Harmanpreet Kaur, Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami, Shafali Verma, Ekta Bisht, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma and others.
