The National Games 2022 are currently underway in Gujarat, after receiving an official kickstart by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the inauguration ceremony on September 29 in Ahmedabad. This year's games have several female athletes in full participation in almost all sports.
The 36th National Games feature 36 sports with sportspersons participating from across 36 states and Union Territories in the country. Day 1 turned out to be a great day for some female athletes who not only clinched medals for their respective states but also spectacularly created history. While several rounds of some sports are still underway and will progress in the coming days, some sports had their final matches today which led to showcasing of great sporting ability and spirit.

36th National Games Women Winners
Air Rifle Shooting Championship
Elavenil Valarivan, who was representing Gujarat in the Air Rifle Championship struck a Gold after she defeated Tilottama Sen with a 16-10 score. 14-year-old Tillottama Sen of Karnataka bagged the silver medal, and Mehuli Ghosh of West Bengal clinched the Bronze medal.
Women's 20 km Walk
Uttar Pradesh's Munita Prajapati created history today by not only winning gold but also making a new national record in the 20 km women's Race Walk with her timing of 1:38:20. Uttarakhand's Mansi Negi bagged the second spot and won the silver medal with her timing of 1:41:28. Reshma Patel, another athlete from Uttarakhand, clinched the bronze medal with a timing of 1:42:10.
Women Weightlifting
Olympic champion Mirabai Chanu represented Manipur at the games and bagged the gold medal with her spectacular performance lifting a total of 191 kg weight in the 49kg category. Sanjita Chanu, also from Manipur, took home the silver medal with a total weight lift of 187 kg. Sneha Soren from Odisha bagged the bronze medal after a total weight lift of 169 kg.
The sports female athletes are participating in include Weightlifting, High Jump, Rugby, Fencing, Badminton, Tennis, Shot Put, Hammer Throw, Racewalk, 1500 meters, Shooting, Speedskating, Artistic skating, Inline skating, and Skateboarding among others.
Fencing
Olympian Bhavani Devi hit a hattrick today. Devi, representing Tamil Nadu, won gold after defeating Punjab's Jagmeet Kaur with a 15-3 score. This is her third gold medal in the history of her participating in the National Games.
