Chithra Thomas, top executive and Human Resource industry notable, has been appointed to lead Tesla's team in India. The California-based electric vehicle company, headed by business magnate Elon Musk, is looking to branch into India, setting up camp in Karnataka where its initial productions are currently underway. Thomas, as the HR leader, will oversee the primary enterprise functions.
Thomas has close to two decades of experience in the HR industry, having worked with big retail names, most prominently those under Reliance. As the early beginnings of Tesla take shape in India, Thomas is among the first select executives to have joined the team.
As previously reported, Manuj Khurana has been appointed the Policy and Business Development head and chief accounting officer Vaibhav Taneja has joined the board of directors for Tesla India. Latest reports suggest Tesla will begin commercial rollout from Mumbai's posh Lower Parel-Worli area.

Thomas is a graduate of the Loyola Institute of Business Administration in Chennai. She was associated in HR roles with HPE India and Walmart, before joining Reliance Retail in 2015. She was Vice President HR at AJIO, Reliance's fashion outlet.
Here she oversaw "organisational design, total rewards, talent acquisition, learning and development and delivery of core HR operations, systems and capabilities," as per her LinkedIn profile. Her ">leadership spanned operations covering all Indian states where the e-commerce setup reached.
