A recent study went deeper into the orgasm that women have and found that based on the movement of pelvic floor muscles, women generally have three different types of orgasm. These conclusions were drawn based on experiments conducted on 54 women and the movement of their pelvic floor was monitored using a vibrator.
The study was conducted by James Pfaus, a neuroscience professor from Charles University, Prague, in an attempt to know more about the technicalities of female orgasm and sexual health. For the study, 54 women masturbated at home using a vibrator.
The Bluetooth-enabled vibrator was equipped with sensors on both sides. These sensors detected the movement and rhythmic contraction of the pelvic floor muscles, the muscles that are responsible for orgasm in women, and concluded that three different types of movement produced three different orgasms.
Types Of Orgasm In Women
Volcano Orgasm
This type of orgasm in women is when the pelvic floor stays at a slow but steady tension which gets dramatically high during the climax and explodes at the end. Out of 54, 11 women involved in the experiment had a volcano orgasm.
Avalanche Orgasm
This type of orgasm occurs when the pelvic floor has high tension and as the person climaxes, entire tension is lowered. 17 out of 54 women experienced avalanche orgasm making it the second most common type of orgasm in women.
Wave Orgasm
Wave orgasm is the most common orgasm in women with 26 out of 54 women having it during the experiment. In this type of orgasm, there is a series of repeated contractions of tension and release in the pelvic floor.
The types of orgasm in women is expected to help understand how it works in women, what triggers them and what amount of stimulation movement in in different parts of the body impacts them.
According to a study conducted in 2018, the percentage of women who experience difficulty in orgasm ranges from 10 to 40 percent. Stress/anxiety, insufficient arousal, body image, pain and inadequate lubrication were some of the reasons quoted by women for their inability to experience orgasm.
