"I remember a few years were just too bad in school, and then at home I'd seen a lot of bullying up close. I think everybody goes through it to some, you know, length, whatever it depends. I feel like mine was a lot more," she recounted.

What Will A Man Find In You? Dolly Singh Discusses Body-Shaming Struggles

Dolly described how the negative comments about her body deeply affected her, both emotionally and psychologically. She continued, "There was a lot of chatter about, like, how I look, what my body is like, and how it's not like. Just telling you that you eat food, or you'll not be able to bear a child later. How will you marry? What will a man see? Like, you know, girls would say to me, What will a man find in you? You have no curves."

This is not the first time Dolly has spoken candidly about her body shaming experience, however, this latest one brings to light the impact of body shaming on someone’s mental health.

Her experiences underscore what may seem like a few casual words to the speaker, comments like "eat more," and "why don’t you eat much", can have a lasting impact on the listener. These seemingly harmless remarks can deeply erode self-confidence and self-esteem, embedding negative beliefs about body image that can take years of effort to overcome.

Dolly explained how these bad experiences shaped her perception of herself. "I had seen it so much up close in my school life. When you become a teenager and people start bullying each other for whatever they have their own insecurities, then they are bullying you. It's such a toxic cycle."
