How Anuja Chauhan’s Parents Helped Her Thrive

"I have been bottom pinched, bottom slapped, and boob grabbed in various ways, And you just start getting on with it," she admitted. "But the good part was that my parents never told me to stop travelling in DTC buses or to stop doing various things because of what happened to me," Chauhan shared candidly.

"I was always very open about my experiences. When these incidents occurred, they never said, 'Stop doing this' or 'Stop doing that.' Instead, their advice was simple yet empowering: 'Be safe and be fearless.'"

Most parents tend to react with fear when something goes wrong for their child, often warning them to stop pursuing what they love or need to do simply because the world is not always safe. However, there are parents like Chauhan’s who encouraged her to be "bedhadak" and do her stuff. This empowering support not only enabled her to succeed and achieve great things in life but also served as an inspiration for other parents to encourage their children to tackle challenges head-on instead of backing down in fear.

Anuja Chauhan’s fearlessness is reflected in her writing, where she tackles complex themes with a touch of sensitivity. Her works such as The House That BJ Built (2015), Baaz (2017), Club You To Death (2021), and The Fast and the Dead; they are reflections of societal norms, personal struggles, and the indomitable human spirit.
