It was recently announced that Annapurna Devi Yadav will take over the Ministry of Women and Child Development in the third term of the Modi government. 54-year-old Annapurna Devi Yadav has succeeded Smriti Irani in taking over the ministry after the latter lost her Amethi constituency to Congress leader Kishori Lal Sharma in the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

Who Is Annapurna Devi Yadav?
The new government has only two female cabinet ministers and seven female ministers overall. One of the cabinet ministers is Smt. Yadav herself and the other Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman, who heads the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Smt. Savitri Thakur was appointed as the Minister of State for the Ministry of Women and Child Development. She is a BJP MP from Dhar, Madhya Pradesh.
Minster Yadav took her oath last week at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Annapurna Devi Yadav is an Indian politician who was recently inducted as Minister of Women and Child Development in the third term of the Modi government.
She completed her education from Educated at Ranchi University, Jharkhand, and has worked as a social worker.
Yadav was elected to the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly in 1998, where she served until 2014. She represented the Rashtriya Janata Dal. She made progress in women and child welfare during her term. She also oversaw the registration department and irrigation ministry.
In the year 2019, Annapurna Devi Yadav campaigned for the general elections from the Bharatiya Janata Party under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi and won the seat from Kodarma, Jharkhand.
Previously, after the 2021 reshuffle of ministers, she was the Union Minister of State for Education.
