Zareen Siddique's Story
I met my ex-husband through an arranged marriage setup. We liked each other and soon got married. But we had poor compatibility. Lack of communication and lack of mutual respect due to personal beliefs led to a failed marriage. It was devastating throughout our 20 years of marriage.
In 2017, after many harrowing incidents, I decided to move out of his house with my two children. It was the toughest part of the life process-- my second child was just 3 years old during this time. Post-divorce, we got joint custody of our children. Letting my three-year-old stay away for 15 days every month was the toughest part of my journey.
My family was my biggest supporter in this decision, but I never wanted to be a burden to them, so I got myself educated in the fitness stream– it had always been my passion. I studied for certifications in the field of nutrition for over 3 years while training clients as a personal trainer.
It was tough but I didn’t give up. I worked 24*7 to give my children the future they deserve. Today at 50 years old, I am capable of doing what I thought was only a dream– providing a comfortable life for my kids. And being financially independent and making my own decisions.
I'm balancing a relationship and looking after my priorities with my children and my parents, all because of the support from my partner and parents. I want to be financially capable of providing for them. To every woman reading this, ‘restarting your life won’t be easy. But it will be worth all the hard work, so stay strong, and let your hard work prove the rest to the world.
