Weird Customs On Women's Day, 6 Things Indian Moms Should Stop Doing From This Women's Day:
I just hung up the phone with my mother after a brief argument over granting me permission for my upcoming trip. Can you guess what her response was? Yes, you got it right there. She said, "Go wherever you want to go, but after your marriage with your husband," which is exactly what most of our mothers say. I responded, " tickets were already booked", Mother cutely replied, "Go do whatever you want to do; who am I to tell you anything?"

However, that's not what prompted me to write this; I know this is coming from concern for my well-being. What struck me during this heated conversation was her desire to explore the same place I am willing to go. Mother revealed she always wanted to travel to this place and have fun. I offered her to join, yet another disappointing reply was- it's not her age to do these things now, and how will my father survive in her absence". Her words, ignite thoughts in me- this is something my mother, your mother, and every other person's mother should stop doing.

From Shadi Ke Baad Pati Ke Sath Jana! to Pati Ko Chor Kar Kaise Jau?- my mother's life has been centred around her husband and kids. I am grateful that she is not making my sister or me continue this bizarre cycle, but she couldn't escape the cycle. I am clueless why she won't let herself live the life she wants and deserves.

Age and marital status are irrelevant when it comes to travelling, exploring, and having a good time; it can be done before marriage, after marriage, with or without a husband, with a family, or alone. It only requires the will and the money, both of which our mothers possess, but even then they don't believe it's their thing. The possible reason could be adapting to many orthodox lessons they learnt from their previous generation. And today, I genuinely want my mom to unlearn these lessons and stop doing a few things.

6 Things Indian Moms Should Stop Doing From This Women's Day:

1. Stop Waiting For My Father To Eat First

For many generations, our mothers have been following this. I asked my mother why she does this but never received an apt answer from her. Look, Moms, you can eat before your spouse or after him; it's just that if you are hungry. Please do not wait for him or anyone else to eat first just because it's Patiwarta Patni Dharm. Pro tip: You can sit with him and have a romantic meal together.

2. Stop  Sacrificing That Last Piece Of Chocolate Or Cake For Anyone

Moms! We all know you love us, and you do not need to sacrifice even a piece of chocolate to prove that. Not just chocolate, please don't sacrifice anything.

3. Stop Waiting For Someone To Take You Out

Most of our moms depend on our dads or us for everything, including going to the salon, shopping, and even buying vegetables. I want them to stop doing this as well and go out on their own. I want all women to be self-sufficient individuals who don't depend on others to take them out. Start by buying vegetables one day, and soon you'll go on a solo date as well.

4. Stop Entertaining Neighbour's Bizarre Remarks

Stop entertaining your neighbors' or relatives' bizarre remarks; if you find them offensive, don't keep quiet. Pro tip: If now they ever skinny shame me, don't just smile; tell them she looks beautiful just the way she is.

5. Stop Worrying About 'What Others Will Say'

This is the thing everyone does, even me, but some people worry significantly more than others. And some of those people are our moms. I'll just say, don't worry, moms; go for that new hairstyle; wear that bright color; and do everything you want to do but skip because of what others say.

6. Stop Blaming My Phone For Everything
