Yuvika Choudhary apologises: Hours after social media users called for her arrest over a caste slur she used on video, actor Yuvika Choudhary issued an apology saying she was unaware of the meanings of the word. "I didn’t mean to hurt anyone and I can never do that to hurt someone I apologise to each n every one," she added.
On Tuesday, a clip from her YouTube video where the Om Shanti Om actor could be heard using the offensive went viral on Twitter. Activists called her out, demanding action against her under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes Act that protects India's marginalised communities. More here.

After Munmun Dutta, Yuvika Choudhary Apologises For Slur After Calls For Arrest
A similar incident played out earlier this May when netizens rallied for Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Munmun Dutta's arrest, after a video of her uttering a caste slur on camera went viral on the internet. Dutta was consequently booked under the SC/ST Act for her words.
For Choudhary, who defaulted on the same word, netizens are demanding similar action with the hashtag #ArrestYuvikaChoudhary tracking over 30,000 calls, trends show. Outrage is building online as popular voices from the marginalised communities weigh in on the matter.

Choudhary hails from Uttar Pradesh and has been a part of the Hindi film and television industry since 2004. Following appearances in advertisements and music videos, she got her big screen break with the 2007 film Om Shanti Om. She was a contestant on reality show Bigg Boss 9 with Prince Narula, whom she later married in 2018.
