Bigg Boss Telugu alumna and YouTuber Sarayu Roy is facing police action for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. As per reports this week, Roy, known to fans by her online title 7 Arts, was served a notice by police in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad who have summoned her in connection to the case.
As visuals of Roy talking to the police go viral on social media, certain reports suggest the star, along with a few of her supporters, was arrested. However, talking to the media, she refuted claims of arrest.
"I returned home after receiving notices at the Banjara Hills police station," she told ETimes, adding that she was meeting with the complainant to understand what the issue is about.

According to reports, the district president of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Sircilla claims that a video Roy appeared in is insulting to Hindus. His complaint refers to a short film created as part of a local promo campaign for an eatery, which features Roy and others wearing saffron headbands that read 'Ganapati Bappa Moriya' while allegedly consuming alcohol.
The video is reportedly an old one and dates back to February last year.
Roy is popular for her adult comedy content online. It is through her digital presence that she broke into bigger projects, beginning with the Telugu serial Ninne Pelladatha in 2018.

She shot to fame last year when she appeared in the fifth season of reality show Bigg Boss Telugu. Though she was evicted from the house in the first week, it made Roy a popular celebrity with a strong following.
Her content, often dubbed 'bold' by netizens, has stirred controversy in the past. Roy is vocal about her choice to dress as she pleases and has spoken up about women being policed for clothes that show skin.
"They are going to judge me even if I do pathivratha (piety) roles also. Such people will comment even if you wear a sleeveless outfit... I was criticised for my cop uniform in one of my YouTube videos, too. I've stopped bothering about 'what people would say' long back," she said in an interview last year.
