Tamil YouTuber Abbishek Ragi has been arrested for posting sexist content insulting to women. He was arrested by Chennai Cyber Crime Police on July 29. A woman filed a complaint against him for his indecent remarks about women in a recent video.
As per reports, Rabi has been charged with the IT Act, the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act 1986, The Sexual Harassment of Women Act, 2013, and the Tamil Nadu Prevention of Violence against Women Act (TNPHW Act). He has also been charged under BNS sections 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and section 353 (punishment on public mischief).
The Chennai Police informed the public about the action taken against Rabi on X. It said, "Let's stand against online harassment and promote a safer digital environment.”
The sexist comment he made
Rabi, also known as Biryani Man has 43,000 Instagram followers. In the video in question, Rabi commented on dating and finding a match on a dating app. Talking about women in dating, he said, “They (women) usually have an extreme ego and they have to initiate the conversation in the app. Would that even happen, how? Just send a Hi, I will take care of the rest and correct you.”
In the video below, Rabi is seen enacting two rounds of sex. He shows that despite men being tired, women demand more.
Earlier controversy around Rabi
This is not the first time that Rabi has landed in trouble. Earlier also he was trolled for an insensitive video. He made a video of taking his own life.
He was immensely trolled for the content. A person on X said, “Arrest #biriyaniman Open suicide attempt on YouTube. So many kids are watching all these he is setting a bad example for kids who can be easily influenced through YouTube. Requesting @tnpoliceoffl to take strict action on such a trigger content.”
Other YouTubers making insulting content
Recently, a Pakistani singer released a video on why girls should not go to school. The song, uploaded by YouTuber Hafiz Hasan Iqbal Chishti is titled 'Apni Dhi Schoolo Hata Le Othy Dance Kardi Payi Ae'. The title is urging people to remove their daughters from school because they have been spotted dancing there which is not acceptable in Islam.
The song allegedly suggests that people must remove their daughters from school if they don't want them to become prostitutes. In the video, Chisti is urging people to keep their daughters at home in purdah to save families' and daughters' izzat. According to the song, girls will lose their sanctity and respect if they go to school.
In June 2024, a female YouTuber was arrested by Ghaziabad Police. Shikha Metray, who goes by Kuwari Begum on social media, was accused of making content on how to sexually abuse infants and other explicit content on her YouTube channel.
She also made sexual content ignoring the idea of consent and encouraging aggressive behavior towards women and children.
