Former WWE champion known as The Great Khali took to social media on Tuesday to share a picture with his mother after her demise.
Along with a photograph posted on Instagram, where Khali could be seen embracing his mother, he wrote, “My mother passed away two days ago”.
The wrestler, Dalip Singh Rana, lost his mother Tandi Devi on June 20. She died at the age of 75 due to multiple organ failure at Ludhiana’s Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH).
“Wrestler Khali’s mother passes away due to multiple organ failure at Ludhiana’s DMC hospital,” said the hospital in a press release.
Tandi Devi was suffering from breathing issues for two years now. Previously, she was being treated at a private hospital in Jalandhar. Last week, she was moved to Ludhiana where she was put on the ventilator on Thursday.
The wrestler Khali’s mother’s last rites will be held on June 21 at his native village Dhiraina in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh.
Dilip Singh Rana, widely known as The Great Khali is a former Punjab Police officer. Khali made his debut as a professional wrestler in 2000. He was part of WWE from 2006 to 2014, during which debut with an undefeated streak which was later ended by John Cena in 2007 at One Night Stand.
In the same year, the wrestling champion won the World Heavyweight Championship and showed his comedic skills as the Punjabi Playboy.
He became the first Indian wrestler to hold a championship in the WWE’s history and is famously remembered for his battle against The Undertaker and David Bautista.
He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame as part of the 2021 class.
Apart from that, Khali has also featured in four Hollywood films and two Bollywood films.
