It's been a little over a month since Nupur Sharma made controversial remarks about Prophet Muhammad on a television debate. Since the matter came to the light, a chain of unfortunate events has begun and the suspended BJP leader has become the centre of the fiasco. Recently, the Supreme Court slammed the suspended BJP leader and said "her loose tongue had set the country on fire" and that she needed to apologise.
Sharing a photo of a report on the same, the Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav wrote on Twitter, "Not only the face but the body should also apologise and should also be punished for disturbing the harmony of the country." This tweet by the politician did not go down well with the Women's Commission in Delhi.
Action Against Akhilesh Yadav
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has now asked Uttar Pradesh police to take against Yadav for allegedly instigating hatred and ill-will against Sharma.

In a letter to the UP Director General of Police DS Chauhan, Women's Commission chairperson Rekha Sharma said the tweet is "sheer instigation". In the letter, Rekha further said, "The National Commission for Women has come across a Twitter post of Akhilesh Yadav instigating a feeling of hatred and ill-will against Nupur Sharma also, inciting communal disharmony between the two religious groups which is extremely condemnable."
The letter, reportedly, further read, "Considering the gravity of the matter, you are required to take immediate action against Akhilesh Yadav."
Sharma also termed Yadav's comment on Nupur Sharma "unsolicited" as the matter is already being looked into by the judiciary. She mentioned the same in her letter. "Nupur Sharma is already facing threat to her life and the tweet of Akhilesh is a sheer instigation to the general public to assault Sharma. A fair investigation must be accomplished in a time-bound manner," she said. She demanded action to be initiated against Yadav within three days.
