It was an easy match for the Indian women's cricket team on Thursday as they won over West Indies in the opening ODI of the three-match series with six wickets, making it a good start for Indian women.

The left-arm spin duo of Rajeswari Gayakwad and Ekta Bist snared 7 out of the 10 wickets to skittle out West Indies for 131 runs in 42.4 overs. This was their career’s best figures. Rajeswari was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 4/21 while Ekta Bist chipped in with 3/14 in 8 overs.

Veda Krishnamurthy was unbeaten with 52 off 70 balls, accompanying with veteran batswoman Mithali Raj, who patiently scored 46 off 91 balls. This opened up the gate for the home team to chase down the target in 39.1 overs.
The duo then added 97 runs for the 5th wicket. While Mithali hit six boundaries, Veda hit fours in her innings.

At the end of the game, the best scores were West Indies Women 131 in 42.4 overs, while India Women got 133/4.
Indian Women won by 6 wickets.
