In Andhra Pradesh's Tenali district, three women were arrested for a series of murders involving cyanide-laced drinks. The suspects, identified as Munagappa Rajini, Madiyala Venkateshwari, and Gulra Ramanamma, have been dubbed the "serial killers" of Tenali by the police. They befriended strangers, offered them drinks mixed with cyanide, and then stole their valuables, such as gold and cash.
Serial Killers Of Tenali: 3 Women Arrested For Poisoning Strangers With Cyanide Drink
According to the police, the trio has been linked to four murders, including three women. Their killing spree reportedly began in June of this year, when they targeted a woman named Nagur B. Two other victims survived after consuming the cyanide-laced drinks but were severely affected. The police arrested the three women on Thursday, August 5 and recovered cyanide and other incriminating evidence from their possession. They have also arrested a man who allegedly supplied the poison to the women.
One of the accused, Madiyala Venkateshwari, is no stranger to crime. The 32-year-old had worked as a volunteer in Tenali for four years before travelling to Cambodia, where she was reportedly involved in cybercrime activities. Her criminal history further adds to the shocking nature of the case.
The Tenali police, led by Superintendent of Police Satish Kumar, revealed that the women confessed to the murders during their investigation. The police warned the public to be cautious about trusting strangers, particularly those offering food or drinks. "We advise everyone to be vigilant and not accept drinks or favours from strangers, as such incidents can happen again," said SP Kumar.
The case has drawn comparisons to the infamous Jolly Joseph cyanide killings in Kerala, where a woman was responsible for the deaths of six people over 14 years by poisoning them with cyanide. The Tenali incident has reignited fear and caution among the public, reminding them of the dangers posed by trusting unknown individuals.
The police are continuing their investigation into the case and are urging anyone with further information to come forward. They have also issued a general alert, advising people not to befriend strangers too quickly or accept drinks from unknown individuals. The authorities hope that their swift action in arresting the women will prevent further tragedies from occurring.
