However, it is alleged that the Chief Minister hasn’t fulfilled that promise, leading to the protest by the self-help groups and women farmers outside his residence, seeking that their loans be cleared as promised.

Several women have reached Bengaluru from the Kolar district and are staging protests outside Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s residence, holding placards.

The protesters said that a programme called "Na Nayaki" was held in Kolar district, which was attended by Congress leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and CM Siddharamaiah, who visited them and promised that their loans taken under the Stree Shakti Sanga self-help group would be cleared off.

Along with placards and banners that convey their demand, the women protesters have milk packets and flowers from the Kolar district. They mentioned that if Chief Minister Siddarammaiah fulfills his promise, they will garland him. They are requesting that the Karnataka Chief Minister fulfill his promise of clearing their loans.

While the Karnataka Chief Minister had promised to clear the loans taken by the women’s self-help group, it was reported that no particular timeline was mentioned within which the promise would be fulfilled. Each of the women was given an Rs. 50,000 loan by the DCC bank of the Kolar district. The protesters claimed that they were unable to repay the loan due to their financial conditions. They also noted that the CM had made the promise on April 13, but the government has still not cleared the loans.
