Women ministers in cabinet: Diversifying the administration, the centre in its union cabinet expansion on Wednesday announced the induction of several new faces that will take oath at 6 pm today.
Out of 43 leaders named in the list released by ANI, seven are women.
The reshuffle exercise, first of its kind in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's second term since 2019, was in a bid to introduce greater representation of oppressed communities - women, Scheduled Castes, backward classes - and introduce younger names in leadership.
Prominent names from the second-term cabinet - including Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal, Women and Child Development Minister Debasree Chaudhuri - tendered their resignations ahead of the reshuffle. Read here.

BJP's Sunita Duggal, the only woman MP from Haryana, is reportedly also expecting a portfolio.
'Soshit, pidit, vanchhit and adivasi’ was reportedly the underlying focus, sources told News18. The aim is purportedly to bring fresh leadership at the central and state levels.
There were reports earlier of 11 women and 27 from Other Backward Classes getting cabinet portfolios in the reshuffling exercise. Several ministers-in-waiting have been in and out of the PM's residence at Lok Kalyan Marg since morning.
Also among the highlights of additions to Modi's cabinet are former Congress minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Assam MLA Sarbananda Sonowal and Rajasthan's Bhupender Yadav. Meanwhile, BJP ministers Anurag Thakur and Hardeep Singh Puri are reportedly set for a promotion.
