According to Forbes, NFT in layman's terms is a digital asset that represents real-world objects like art, music, videos, etc. These can be bought and sold online using cryptocurrency and are usually encoded with the same software as most cryptos. While women are generally considered less interested in financial conversations, the rising popularity of NFTs interests females as much as men, as per reports.

According to Twitter data, about 375 million tweets on NFTs were recorded globally. Out of these, 15 per cent of the tweets came from Indian women. Twitter revealed that globally, 40 per cent women have never heard of NFTs, 26 per cent women believe that NFTs can be an investment, 25 per cent believe it to be an opportunity to support independent artists and 24 per cent women think NFTs can be a good way to share exclusive branded content.

The social media platform also observed that Indian NFT women artists have been attempting to welcome more women into the NFT conversations. For the same reason, Twitter is launching Women in NFTs, a female-led platform for women "to create a safe space for women to share and get information, create connections and support each other."

"It’s open and conversational nature is enabling women to participate in this growing community of NFTs and own the conversations," Twitter mentioned about its initiative Women in NFTs in its press release.

Cheryl-Ann Couto, Head of Partners at Twitter India, said that the Twitter officials are excited about the initiative to boost conversations about NFTs among women with the female-led community Women in NFTs. Enabling open public conversation on the topics, the micro-blogging site attempts to make women not only aware, but also empowered through their own works. "We’ve got a lot of exciting stuff planned to fuel the spirit of female NFT creators, and can’t wait to see this conversation become more inclusive," Couto said.
