In an attempt to help Indians change their archaic mindsets, the Indian Air Force has shot a new ad film, 'Ek Ladki Hoon Main', roughly translating to 'I am a girl' in English. The ad, initiated by Grey, features India's first batch of women fighter pilots proving their mettle as empowered women outstripping everyone's expectations to safeguard the country.
The ad challenges society's notion that perceives women as mere homemakers. It is a stern reminder to people that women, in the capacity of fighter pilots, have the courage to defend our homes as well.
"To me, personally, changing mindsets and gender stereotypes begins by challenging them with action. Not just words, but involved action. The IAF is not just paying lip service to the conversation around gender equality but walking the talk by recruiting women pilots and encouraging more women to shatter this ceiling"- Sandipan Bhattacharya
It has also been instrumental in challenging gender stereotypes that discourage women from chasing their dreams. The advertisement is a part of a larger campaign called "A Cut Above".

The Indian Air Force scripted history in 2016 by commissioning India's first women fighter pilots. It was their grit that propelled Flight cadets Avani Chaturvedi from Madhya Pradesh, Bhawana Kanth from Bihar and Mohana Singh from Rajasthan to achieve their goals despite uncertainties and dangers that accompany flying.
