A team of all women personnel has been assigned the task of coming to the rescue of women facing eve-teasing and other forms of harassment in public places in the Vizianagaram district in Andhra Pradesh. This all-women cop team in Vizianagaram town, Parvathipuram, Gajapathinagaram, Bobbili, Salaru, Kothavalasa and Garividi in Vizianagaram district consists of 24 young women personnel and is called ‘Shakthi Team’, reports The Times Of India.
These women cops will keep an eye on anyone and everyone found involved in eve teasing or any other form or harassment publically.
Vizianagaram Superintendent of Police, B Raja Kumari said that these 10 teams will be deployed in order to keep a check on eve teasing and other forms of harassment in the district. The Shakthi Team will work from 8 am to 6 pm and will be commissioned near colleges, schools, railway stations, bus stations, and other junctions
These 10 teams will be provided with two-wheelers so that they reach those in distress on time. Also, they will be creating awareness about their services by speaking with school and college students. Not only this, but the team has also undergone various skill-building processes and the laws related to women’s safety so that they prove to be effective in their work. The Superintendent of Police has requested girls and women to lodge their complaints through the police Whatsapp number in order to get a quick response from the team.

In August 2018, Kerala too got an all women police battalion and the passing out parade was held on July 31. This battalion is also the first to be trained under women instructors. Out of the 578 members of the battalion, 44 have undergone commando training under agencies like National Security Guard (NSG). The training includes jungle operations, weaponry and anti-terror operations. About 200 women recruits had enrolled for joining the commando training. Sources said it was tough to select just 44 of them. The women commandos underwent intensive training in addition to the regular training which was a part of the regular women’s battalion routine.

In March 2018, Delhi police had launched an All women squad for patrolling. This move from the police aimed at protecting the women from harassers. The squad was launched on March 7. To mark the occasion, policewomen took a road trip from Sarojini Nagar to Select City Walk. Many students and bikers joined in, including well-known hijabi-biker, Roshni Misbah.
Recently, an All women ATS team in Gujarat had nabbed a dreaded gangster in a jungle. The four-member team got a prompt on his whereabouts in the middle of a deserted forest area in Devgadh, Botad. They immediately left for the place where they chased him and arrested Allrakha who has been in hiding since 2017. He is an infamous criminal who has serious charges booked against him in Ahmedabad, Rajkot, and Junagadh. These officers belong to the first batch of women trained in anti-terror operations and posted in the Anti-Terrorism Squad. After the squad nabbed him, a picture of the four women officers pointing guns at the gangster went viral.
